Transportation Driver

Building Services
The Mayerson JCC has openings for full-time and part-time building services staff (weekdays & weekends). The purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness of the Mayerson JCC, as well as other duties to assist in overall function of the Mayerson JCC.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Performs housekeeping duties in and around the physical facility
  • Clean, sweep, mop, and vacuums facility
  • Maintain all restrooms, locker rooms, and assigned areas in a clean and sanitary manner
  • Maintains stairs, ramps, and sidewalks
  • Assist with building needs, including room set-ups and tear downs

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have prior experience in a building services setting
  • Must be willing to operate heavy machinery as well as work with cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as a team player
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, as well as meet deadlines
  • Successful candidate will value the relationship between members and employees and their impact on the Mayerson JCC

J Café Barista
The Mayerson JCC has an opening for a Part - Time J Café Barista employee (Approx. 20 hrs/week; shifts vary). We are seeking a personable, organized and experienced employee to help with all aspects of the operation, from customer service to food production and everything in between. The ideal candidate will consistently demonstrate excellent customer service skills, have a background in deli or restaurant settings, and is knowledgeable in proper food handling and serving procedures.

J Café operating hours range from 6am - 6pm, 7 days/week, but will adjust as needed. Must be able to work weekends and evenings.

The menu consists of espresso and coffee drinks, fruit smoothies, high quality freshly made foods (sandwiches, salads, etc.) for breakfast, lunch and snacks, plus a variety of pre-packaged snacks and drinks. All foods are kosher, and food handling procedures consistent with kosher practices will be followed. Prior knowledge of kosher practices is not required. Training and instruction will be provided on an ongoing basis.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have experience working in food industry
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be responsible and reliable.

Transportation Driver (approximately 10 hours per week)
The Mayerson JCC is looking for a part-time driver to help transport members to and from our facility, using our 14-passenger van. Under the supervision of the transportation coordinator, the JCC Driver transports senior citizens (including those with limited abilities) on a coordinated schedule in a 14-person van, or its general equivalent. The JCC Driver must provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting the vehicle, perform routine vehicle maintenance, report non-routine problems as detected, and assist with data entry.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Make sure the van has ample gas, oil and anti-freeze before driving. Once a month check engine oil, brake     fluid, engine coolant, power steering, windshield washer check battery, fan alternator, heater hose, radiator, no leaks under vehicle
  • Driver conforms to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial van for passenger use.
  • The driver is responsible for the lawful and safe driving of the vans.
  • Maintain daily logs of the routing sheets, passengers signatures, and mileage log.
  • Serve as back-up driver and assist with other JCC business as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record
  • At least two years of licensed driving experience.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on small commercial vehicles, and to identify vehicle problems and malfunctions.
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle.
  • Good communication skills, and ability to relate effectively with senior adults and staff.
  • A team player.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with emergency situations.
  • Must complete the Defensive and D.R.I.V.E training courses.
