Hope and Recovery: Understanding the Physiological Challenges of and Treatment for Addiction

  • This event has passed.

September 6, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Come at 5:30pm for appetizers and wine

Addiction to opioids, stimulants and other medications or drugs has become alarmingly prevalent in our community over the last few years. Addiction is a chronic disease that alters pathways in the brain involved in reward, motivation and control. Though treatment is often a long and difficult process, untreated addictions can lead to further physical and mental health problems.

Join The Jewish Hospital — Mercy Health and Mayerson JCC as we talk about addiction. This forthright discussion will give you a better understanding of how addiction works and what kinds of treatments are available. The presentation and Q&A will be led by Mercy Health board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Matt Montgomery.
